I led the development and delivery of the company’s AI Strategy and Transformation Programme. Responsible for identifying AI opportunities across the business, creating a 24-month strategic roadmap, delivering multiple AI-enabled productivity solutions, and establishing the partnerships, governance, and infrastructure required to support long-term AI adoption and business transformation.

Deliverables

Identification of operational challenges, pain points, and opportunities for AI-driven improvement through a series of workshops across all business functions.

Development of a prioritisation framework to assess initiatives based on delivery complexity, business benefit, and strategic alignment.

Creation of a 24-month roadmap aligned to organisational objectives and business priorities.

Establishment of governance, delivery processes, and reporting mechanisms to support programme-wide oversight.

Delivery of multiple AI-enabled productivity and growth solutions across the business.

Management of a concurrent RFP process to identify strategic delivery partners.

Support for business readiness, stakeholder engagement, communications, and adoption activities across all phases of delivery.

 

Challenges

Establishing an AI strategy in an organisation with limited experience of AI technologies and their potential application.

  • Overcame this by facilitating workshops across all business functions to build a roadmap based on business needs rather than technology trends then collaborated with an external AI consultant to identify solutions.

Delivering programme objectives without a dedicated budget for AI investment.

  • Addressed by implementing a pilot-first approach, ensuring each solution demonstrated measurable benefits before investment decisions were made, helping secure stakeholder confidence and future funding.

Managing multiple project managers and delivery workstreams whilst maintaining consistency across the wider programme.

  • Supported through the introduction of common governance, reporting standards, delivery frameworks, and regular programme reviews to ensure alignment and transparency.

Balancing innovation with compliance in a highly regulated insurance environment.

  • Addressed through close collaboration with Compliance, Risk, and IT stakeholders to establish governance frameworks, define acceptable use policies, assess risks throughout the delivery lifecycle, and ensure solutions were implemented in a controlled and responsible manner.

Facilitated workshops with ~10 business functions to create a prioritised portfolio of over 30 AI opportunities aligned to business objectives and operational challenges.
